Restore and rebalance in 2022 at Regent’s Place

From House of Wisdom to New Diorama Theatre, put your wellbeing first

If the past few years have taught us anything, it’s the importance of placing a real emphasis on our health, wellbeing and work-life balance.

Skin pampering, good food, deep relaxation and support for our minds and bodies can make a huge difference to our lives – boosting our relationships, self-esteem, concentration and focus and approach to work, fitness, friends and family. A recent survey even revealed that a good work-life balance has overtaken salary when it comes to our jobs.

Regent’s Place is one of London’s most welcoming neighbourhoods and is home to some of the city’s most innovative wellbeing spots. House of Wisdom is a social wellness space which hosts breathing classes, sound therapy, meditation and movement classes while the surrounding Knowledge Quarter features 22 museums, 34 libraries and eight universities on the doorstep to expand your horizons.

With food and drink cafes and restaurants, instant access to beautiful green spaces including Regent’s Park, bike hire and more – here are some of the ways you can invest in yourself and your wellbeing at Regent’s Place.

Wellbeing classes at the House of Wisdom

With a 2,500 square space that combines sustainability and sanctuary, the House of Wisdom studio uses careful lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows letting in natural light to build an oasis in the heart of the city. Aiming to “create a community of changemakers, who can support and inspire each other, as we learn to flourish, thrive and become connected to who we really are”, the space offers a range of uplifting courses: sound therapy and reiki, gong baths, inner being meditation, yoga, crystal bowls, shamanic healing and more.

House of Wisdom teachers are kind and welcoming while you can enjoy their library and lifestyle shop alongside plant-based snacks, adaptogenic-infused lattes and smoothies. They offer a range of memberships including the chance to bring a friend for free to their lunchtime sessions. Book a session

Give your brain a workout at the New Diorama Theatre

The 80-seat theatre has played home to national and international productions and welcomed over 200,000 audience members since its opening in 2010. From immersive, audience-led experiences to politically and socially engaged plays and tours from local creatives, the New Diorama Theatre is one of the most innovative spaces in the UK. They also work directly with Camden Youth Theatre (run with Camden People’s Theatre) and Third Age Project which ensures isolated older people in the borough of Camden can see a theatre production for free and socialise over tea, coffee and cake. Find out more about what’s on now.

Eat the rainbow at our cafes and restaurants

Boosting your plant points, eating seasonally and ensuring you’re mixing up your plate is easy at Regent’s Place thanks to our brilliant cafes and restaurants. Nuvola is an independent and family-run cafe that serves up freshly squeezed juices, avocado and goat’s cheese on wholemeal sourdough, pasta and salads while The Refinery is a must-visit for huge bowls of salad (try the vegan green bowl with broccoli, edamame, avocado, sugar snap peas, quinoa, hemp seeds and pickled ginger). With huge windows and tables, the menu also includes delicious seared tuna and plant burgers served in charcoal buns with tomato salad.

Latte and cookies

The Union is also an excellent spot for a post-workout lunch with beetroot and rosemary hummus, coriander oil and Kolios pitta bread; Thai yellow vegetable curry hot and sour with turmeric, lime, ginger and coriander served with jasmine rice and shakshuka (baked free range eggs, spinach in tomato red pepper sauce and sourdough). With Pret also on hand serving up veggie wraps, protein pots, salads of smoked salmon, roasted chickpeas and tamari and ginger chicken, you can ensure you’re eating well and happily.

Explore the Knowledge Quarter

Staying tied to one spot is not great for your posture or your creative thinking… Regent’s Place is located within the Knowledge Quarter which unites museums, universities and institutions across science, design, the arts and beyond. Across the road from Regent’s Place is the astounding Wellcome Collection (home to science and medical objects, books and manuscripts) which everyone should have a wander round, while down the road is The British Library which has year-round exhibitions, talks and events. Find out more about the KQ.

Surround yourself with nature

Just a few minutes’ walk away is London’s famous Regent’s Park. From its open-air theatre to unexpected installations via the children’s playground, boating lake, fountains, rose gardens and wildlife and a nature trail, it’s one of the most beautiful places in the city. Walk across it to Primrose Hill and see the skyline, spot the giraffes peering over the fences at London Zoo, walk along the pretty canal to Camden or simply enjoy the sunshine in a leafy spot to boost your wellbeing.
